VSAT KU-band frequencies are intended only for satellite communications. This technology is characterized by high-power signals compared to C-band. This has the advantage that smaller satellites can be used to cover the same distance as with VSAT C-band technology. In standard circumstances, antennas of 0.9, 1.2 or 1.8 meters are used for KU-band satellite internet. This makes this type of satellite internet suitable for small networks and it also saves a lot of CAPEX.
For our Castor VSAT KU-band you only need a 1.2 meter antenna. However, the KU-band technology is more sensitive to rainfall than C-band, so the availability is lower, especially in the tropics.
Limited space for a satellite installation? In that case we advise you to choose KU-band satellite internet. For this type a smaller antenna is sufficient. Also, this technology is easy to install. VSAT KU-band equipment is more cost effective than C-band equipment, which also makes it more suitable for satellite applications with a small bandwidth.
VSAT KU-band is often used in the mining and oil & gas industry, but also a lot of banks in Africa are using this type of satellite internet. Furthermore, Castor Networks provides effective satellite communications solutions for NGO's. You can read more about
